Frequently Asked Questions

How much am I likely to get awarded?

This is measured on a number of factors and is therefore difficult to estimate. Once an expert solicitor has assessed your claim they can provide an estimate of how much compensation you should receive. Each claim is dealt with individually and on its own merits.

Can I claim for other losses and not just for personal injury?

Yes. Losses such as wages due to being off sick, prescriptions, taxi fares or other losses such as not being able to drive because of an injury that wasn't your fault can be compensated by the other party.

How long do I have to make a claim for compensation?

You have three years from the date of the accident to claim for compensation. If you were under eighteen, you have until three years after your eighteenth birthday to make a claim.

I am under the age of eighteen, can I claim for compensation?

Yes, however your parent or guardian has to make the claim for compensation on your behalf.

If I was partly to blame, can I still claim?

Even if you believe you are partly to blame, you may still be entitled to claim. If you can show the other party was at least partially responsible for causing your injuries, you will most certainly be able to claim.

I have seen my GP or Hospital, do I still need to attend a medical?

Yes, it is important to get medically examined by an independent doctor. This is usually a brief appointment covering any treatment and an indication of recovery time. A medical examination is arranged close to your home for convenience.

How often will I be kept updated on the progress of my claim?

You will be given an expert solicitor and a dedicated file handler who will keep you updated as much or as little as you would like, via emails, text messages, calls or whichever form of notification you choose.
